Qué es ser «cool» ?, Qué significa «cool» ? De donde viene la dichosa palabreja, que nos gusta y nos inquieta sin saber por qué?, queremos ser «cool»?, somos «cool» ?

Definiciones hay muchas, lo que probablemente pocos sabíamos, es la procedencia de esa expresión.

En una impresionante ponencia de Javier Plazas, sobre «coolhunting «, en el Curso de Marketing y Comunicación, ( de la que hay muchísimos temas muy interesantes de los que escribir) , nos explicó el origen del término. Nace del jazz, de un sonido extraño, diferente. Fue la primera vez que se utilizó.

El cool es un género dentro de la música jazz que se desarrolla durante la década de 1950, una de sus estrellas, Miles Davis, empezó a intentar crear sonidos nuevos, grabó con un grupo de nueve instrumentos, que se recopilaron en un disco con un título premonitorio : » Birth of the cool «.

Davis convirtió el jazz en un estilo más relajado y orquestal. Le quitó sus raíces del blues y lo desarrolló hacia un sonido mucho más parecido a la música clásica europea. Los críticos dieron a esta música el nombre de cool, tomado de la expresión to be cool, es decir, calmado, imperturbable, ecuánime, expresion que los mismos músicos utilizaban. Ofrecía una sonoridad que apaciguaba, hechizaba.

What is It to be «cool»?, What does it mean «cool»? Where does the damn buzzword that we like and disturbs us without knowing what? , Do we want to be «cool»?, Are we «cool»?

There are many definitions, few probably know what is the origin of that expression.

In an awesome presentation by Javier Plazas about «cool hunting» , in the Marketing and Communication Course of the Elle magazine (of which there are many interesting topics for to write), explained the origin of the term. Birth of jazz, of a strange sound different. It was the first time it was used.

The «cool» is a genus within the jazz music that developed during the 1950s, one of its stars, Miles Davis, started trying to create new sounds, recorded with a group of nine instruments, which were compiled in a disk with a premonitory title: » Birth of the cool «.

Davis became jazz in a more relaxed and orchestral style. He took their blues roots and developing into much more like European classical music sound. Critics gave this music a «cool» name, taken from the expression to be cool , i.e.  calm, imperturbable, equable, expression used the same musicians. Offered a sound that soothed, charmed.

Y aquí tenemos nuestra primera definición.

» Cool «, referido a las personas, es ante todo ser uno mismo, estar cómodo en tu propia piel, podría  ser ofensivo, políticamente incorrecto, pero con seguridad. Ser «cool» es ser natural, no se obliga, nace de uno mismo sin necesidad de forzarlo. La persona «cool» no tiene miedo de decir o hacer algo,  es magnético, nos atrae irremediablemente, sin saber por qué, queremos estar ante su presencia, es agradable, no muestra tensión ni problemas. Es original, atemporal.

Lo «cool», nos llama la atención, tiene su propia personalidad, sin postureo , porque cuidado, hay una linea muy delgada entre ser «cool», y ser hortera.

No hay nada menos «cool», que ir de «cool», espléndida frase de Plazas.

And here we have our first definition.

«Cool,» referring to the people, is first of all be yourself, be comfortable in your own skin, it may be offensive, politically incorrect, but self-confidence. Being «cool» is to be natural, not obligated, born of oneself without force. The «cool» person is not afraid to say or do something, is magnetic, inevitably draws us, without knowing why, we want to be in his presence, it’s nice, shows no stress or problems. It is original, timeless.

The «cool», calls our attention, has its own personality, without postureo, because be careful¡ , there is a very thin line between being «cool» and being tacky.

Nothing less «cool» to want to be «cool» phrase splendid of Plazas.

Hay millones de definiciones, y ahora viene mi pregunta….todos las personas «cool» son «influencers»?, entendiendo como tal, como  bien se nos cuenta en el blog de Cynthia, http://www.elblogdecynthia.com/influencers/ , los  prescriptores de opinión de toda la vida. Esas personas a las que preguntarías su opinión porque confías en ellas. O aquellas otras que simplemente te inspiran, porque te gusta lo que ellas hacen, te parece admirable, atractivo o bueno.

Todos los «cool» son «influencers «? Todos los «influencers» son «cool»?…..

Algo puede parecerte «cool», pero no por ello, vas a seguirlo, o a querer emularlo….

Yo, sinceramente, aún intentándolo, lo prometo, no consigo hacerme con el jazz….supongo que este comentario , no será muy bien recibido por los amantes de este género musical, pero no me llama, no me llega…. y ves que la persona más «cool» de este año, según la revista Times, es Questlove, Ahmir Khalib Thompson, batería, DJ, etc, ligado al mundo del jazz, por lo que piensas,…..definitivamente, puede ser todo lo «cool» que quiera, para ellos, pero no es un «influencer», al menos para mí.

O comprobar como Jay Z, rapero y marido de Beyonce, es considerado como unas de las personas más influyentes de la tierra, encabezan las listas de las personas más poderosas dentro de la industria de la música,y  está en las primeras filas de los desfiles de moda más importantes del mundo, pues…..no termino de entenderlo…. America is different¡¡, eso es evidente,…..conclusión: debo reciclarme¡¡

There are millions of definitions, and now comes my question …. Are all those «cool» «influencers»?, Understanding as such, like on the blog of Cynthia say, http://www.elblogdecynthia.com / influencers / , prescribers opinion of the lifetime. Those people you’d ask your opinion because you trust them. Or simply those which inspire you, because you like what they do, you think admirable, attractive or good.

Are all the «cool» people «influencers»? Are all the «influencers» people «cool»? …..

Something may seem «cool», but no for this reason , you’re going to follow him, or want to emulate ….

I honestly still trying, I promise, don’t achieve to like jazz …. I guess this comment will not be well received by lovers of this musical genre, but I don’t like it, doesn’t reach me … and see that the person’s «coolest» this year, according to the Times, it’s Questlove, Ahmir Khalib Thompson, drummer, DJ, etc., linked to the world of jazz, so I think ….. definitely can be as «cool» as you want, for them, but it is not an «influencer», at least for me.
